Job Summary:
As a Part-Time Veterinarian at our pet store, you will be responsible for providing veterinary care to puppies sold in our store. You will play a critical role in ensuring the health and welfare of our animals and promoting responsible pet ownership. Your primary duties will include conducting health assessments, administering vaccinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, and providing general medical care to our animals. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records, providing client education, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to animal health and welfare.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough physical examinations of puppies and other animals to assess their overall health and well-being.
- Administer appropriate vaccinations and preventive treatments in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in animals, including conducting diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and developing treatment plans.
- Provide emergency medical care to animals in case of illness, injury, or other medical emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each animal, including health assessments, vaccinations, treatments, and other relevant information.
- Provide client education on topics such as proper animal care, nutrition, and disease prevention to promote responsible pet ownership.
- Collaborate with store staff and management to ensure the health and welfare of animals in the store, including monitoring animal housing conditions, nutrition, and overall well-being.
- Follow and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to animal health, welfare, and veterinary practice.
- Participate in continuing education and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.
- Collaborate with local veterinary clinics or other veterinary professionals as needed for consultation or referral.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Valid and active state veterinary license.
- Experience in small animal practice, including puppies and other companion animals.
- Strong knowledge of animal health, husbandry practices, and preventive care.
- Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Effective communication and client education skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain accurate and organized medical records.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to animal health and welfare.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate part-time work hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
