What is a puppy mill?

Puppy mills are commercial dog breeding businesses that prioritize profit over the health of their dogs. The dogs in puppy mills are often kept in cramped, unsanitary conditions without adequate food, water or veterinary care. These conditions can lead to severe health problems in the dogs, including respiratory illness, eye problems, congenital defects and more.

Puppy mills are also known for their inhumane treatment of dogs. The dogs in puppy mills are often confined to small wire cages for their entire lives, with little or no human interaction. This can lead to severe psychological damage in the dogs.
